David Slossberg obtained a jury verdict in the Stamford Superior Court on November 16, 2009.
The Connecticut Law Tribune reported the case was a class action against The Hartford Insurance Company by The Auto Body Association of Connecticut. The cause of action was for violation of the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act by the insurance giant which suppressed shop labor rates artificially by exclusively using its own representatives to make appraisals and repairs following accidents.
Those seeking more information are referred to The Tribune editions of November 17, 2009 and November 23, 2009 or online at www.ctlawtribune.com.
Congratulations to Dave who personally tried the case and all the attorneys and staff at Hurwitz, Sagarin, Slossberg & Knuff, LLC, who must have been worked to the point of exhaustion by Dave.
That’s why he’s a Super Lawyer.

President Michael Kerin received this email from Bill Yelenak, member of the Judicial Branch Law Library Advisory Committee, advising us of the impending cuts and providing contact information for concerned members to register their sentiments.
" Dear Members of Council of Bar Presidents ,
I would like to share an important state budget issue with you that will profoundly affect practicing lawyers statewide, and especially those of us who rely on the court library system for necessary research needs. I sit as a member of the Judicial Branch Law Library Advisory Committee, chaired by Judge Joseph P. Flynn.
We have been informed that the proposed budget for the court system law libraries has been reduced from $2,500,000 to $0. That's right; the proposal is to essentially eliminate funding for the materials in our state court's law library system. This will mean that all books and materials will no longer be updated, subscriptions for existing recurring materials will be eliminated and all electronic materials and access will be cut completely. If this proposal is adopted, it will be very difficult to near impossible to resume any subscriptions because if there is an interruption in subscriptions for two years, then the cost to update these materials would be prohibitively expensive almost the same as purchasing a new set of books.
Obviously, this proposed budget cut will leave attorneys as well as judges without access to current law in our state court library system. The ramifications of this cut will be deep and troubling. It will impact all of us who are in need of current research during trial or at other times when the court libraries have materials that our own office libraries lack. It will also affect us when the judges before whom we try cases and argue motions will not have access to current law.
